Coimbatore : Two books were released on the opening day of the three days 2nd World Palmyrah Agro Economy Consortium that was held in Perur Tamil College in the outskirts of the city on Friday.

The books ‘Panai Porulatharam’ written by Kumari Nambi and ‘Panai Ezhubadhu’ written by Udumalai Kavi, were released by former Choir Board Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan and Sandhalinga Marudhachala Adigalar.
While the book ‘Panai Porulatharam’ speaks about the economic opportunities of the palmyrah tree, the book ‘Panai Ezhubadhu’ speaks about the various uses of Palmyrah tree and its types.
As a part of the festival, a special expo was also inaugurated, wherein value added goods made from palmyrah tree were on display and for sale.
According to Arul Srinivasan, Conference Secretary, they have also planned to organise a food festival on palmyrah food products including traditional and cultural palmyra foods.
Around 700 participated on the opening day of the event in which Anusha Ravi, the CEO of Park Institution was the Chief Guest.
They expect around 2500 visitors in the three days conference.
Notably, the 1st World Palmyrah Agro Economy Consortium was held in the same venue last year.
