Coimbatore: Foresters of the Mettupalayam Forest Range on Thursday found the carcass of a female elephant at Sundapatti Reserve Forests near Bhavani River in the Mettupalayam Range here.
Coimbatore: Foresters of the Mettupalayam Forest Range on Thursday found the carcass of a female elephant at Sundapatti Reserve Forests near Bhavani River in the Mettupalayam Range here.
The elephant aged between 15 and 20 was in a decomposed position when it was identified and lay 200 meters away from the River.
Post mortem was done by Mettupalayam Veterinarian Dr. K. Rajeshkumar and the cause of death was ascertained as pregnancy trouble.
According to sources, the elephant had bones of a foetus inside. However, it did not carry any symptoms of sickness and is ascertained to have died because of pregnancy issues.
