Coimbatore : Pongalur Palanisamy, the DMK candidate for the Sulur legislative assembly campaigned in areas that come under the Sulur north union.
He carried out door-to-door campaigns at Arugampalayam, Rasipalayam, Kaniyoor, Thennampalayam and Arasur areas. Ex-Minister Nilgiris Ramachandran and many other leaders were present along with him during the campaigns. Likewise, the Sulur by-election In-charge A V Velu inaugurated new DMK election offices in Neelambar, Arasoor and Thennampalayam.
A V Velu opined, "In the past election, we got only less votes in Sulur north due to which we have decided to concentrate on this area, this election. 97.98 of the people here belong to the Arunthathiyar community. Hence, we have to concentrate on this region. Theeran Chinnamalai belonged to the Kongu Vellalar Community. Pollan is his commander. Once DMK comes to power, the 'Mani Mandapadam' will be built for Pollan. Based on this, we can improve our vote bank. Election In-charges should carry out campaigns both in the morning and evening times. ‘Samuthaaya Koodangal’ will be opened in Arunthathiyar community areas, if DMK comes to power. During this regime, SC/ST funds sent by the Centre is not being utilised properly. People should know that we will build houses for them if we come to power," he added.
Ex-Minister A Raja, MLA Karthick and many other party functionaries participated in the campaigns.
