Chennai : The HR & CE Department Commissioner, Phanidra Reddy ordered temples to perform special poojas in major temples in Tamil Nadu to invoke the rain gods.
"A water tank should be constructed and water should be filled up to the neck of the Nandi idol. Worship should be done by playing nadhaswaram, violin, flute, veena, anandha bairavi and kalyani. Seedhala Kumbal, Rudhraapishegam, Maha Vishnu, Varuna Gayathri, Mandira Parayanam poojas should be performed. All Regional Assistant Commissioners should send the list to the Commissioner's office on the dates that the poojas are to be held, in the respective districts, by May 2," read the circular.
