Coimbatore : The Coimbatore District Small Scale Industries Association, CODISSIA is to organise a Coimbatore Book Festival 2019 from July 19 to 28 at CODISSIA in Coimbatore. This event is being organised with the support of the Buyers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI). The event is being conducted for the fifth time and is much awaited by book publishers, writers and readers.

Lifetime Achiever award:
The festival confers the Lifetime Achiever award for experienced writers in recognition of their contribution. Balakumaran, Jeyamohan, S Ramakrishnan are previous recipients of the Lifetime Achiever award. This award carries a prize money of Rs.1 lakh and a citation. This year's award is to be conferred on writer Vannanilavan.
Young Writers Award :
From this year onward, literary awards are to be conferred on young writers in various categories such as fiction, non- fiction and poetry writing. The award will carry a prize money of Rs.25,000 and a citation.
Recipients of this award for this year are Guna Kandhaswamy in the fiction category for Katralaippachai, Guruswamy in the non-fiction category for Tamil Ilakkiya Varalaru (Pala Puthiya Kuripugaludan 1970 Mudhal) and Solai Malaiyavan in the poetry category for Viralkalil Valiyum Viralatravanin Senguruthi.
These awards are to be conferred on July 19 at the Book Festival organised at the CODISSIA grounds, stated Vijay Anand, the Chairman of the Coimbatore Book Festival.
