Coimbatore : A 'Legal Awareness' program on Labour Law was conducted on behalf of the District Legal Aid Committee at Kuniyamuthur Savala Kula Vellalar community hall. District Judge, R Sakthivel, President of the Legal Aid Committee educated the labourers on labour law.

Jagadeesan - Additional Director, Employee Safety Department, Venugopal - Joint Director, Flora - District Judge of Labour Court, Manimozhi - Additional Judge, Malar Valentina - 4th Additional District Judge, Sanjay Baba - 3rd Additional District Judge were participants at this event.

District Judge Sakthivel addressed the gathering, saying, "India is a democratic country. It is the duty of the Government to provide free legal aid and equal justice. Article 39 U of our constitution ensures this. The Committee for Implementation of Legal Aid Schemes (CILAS) was created to implement this.

Legal aid bodies that implement people welfare schemes were NGOs. To regulate these bodies with the intention of regulating the legal aid commission and legal aid committees, the Act was enacted in 1987.

Three legal aid committees were formed under this Act: Central legal aid committee, State legal aid committee and District legal aid committee. Free legal aid is given to people through these committees."

"On the occasion of Labour Day, it is my pleasure to participate in this event where legal awareness on labour law is created. Judiciary ensures justice and safety for workers. Cases which are pending in the Court for a longer period are resolved through Lok Adalat. Legal aid camp is being conducted in every district once in a month by the legal service order committee. Lok adalat is being conducted in all the district courts. Workers who are on legal aid can approach the legal service commission for any legal aid," reiterated Judge Sakthivel.
