Coimbatore : In a tragic incident, a 65-year-old woman who was sleeping in front of her house was killed by a wild elephant at Karunya Nagar in the outskirts of the city around early morning on Wednesday.
Coimbatore : In a tragic incident, a 65-year-old woman who was sleeping in front of her house was killed by a wild elephant at Karunya Nagar in the outskirts of the city around early morning on Wednesday.
According to sources, the victim S. Chinnamani, was reportedly sleeping in front of the house due to power shut down.
Around 2.30 am, an elephant entered their farm and attacked Chinnamani who was fast asleep. She immediately succumbed to injuries.
Her body was taken to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post mortem.
Meanwhile, an immediate compensation of Rs. 50,000 is to be handed over to her family by the Coimbatore Forest Division officials.
