Election Commission permits 'May Day' celebrations

Coimbatore : Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu and Secretary to Government, Satyabrata Sahoo has instructed all District Election Officers regarding events to be conducted on 'May Day', through an official statement.

Coimbatore : Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu and Secretary to Government, Satyabrata Sahoo has instructed all District Election Officers regarding events to be conducted on 'May Day', through an official statement.

The release states, “The Election Commission of India has permitted the routine celebration of 'May Day' on May 1, 2019. Hence, hoisting flags, conducting rallies, processions and public meetings can be conducted as part of May day celebration in accordance with relevant provisions of law, instructions of EC of India, as well as the recent judgement of Hon’ble Madras High court with regard to placing of banners, flag poles etc., at public places.”
