Meanwhile, the review on the nomination papers was held today in which nominations of 22 candidates including DMK candidate Pongalur Palanisamy, AIADMK candidate Kandhasamy, AMMK candidate Sukumar, MNM candidate Mayilsami, Naam Tamil Katchi candidate Vijayaragavan were approved.
39 nominations were eliminated following which the approved list of candidates was released by Balakrishnan, Election officer. However, the final list of candidates will be released on May 2.

Candidates of two recognized parties AIADMK and DMK, four registered parties Ulaippaali Makkal Katchi, Ulal Edhiruppu Iyakkam Katchi, Naam Tamilar' Katchi and Makkal Needhi Mayyam and 16 independent candidates including members of AMMK, Samooga Needhi Katchi will be contesting the by-polls at Sulur.
