Two-time MP, Pongalur Palanisamy has been fielded as the candidate for secular progressive alliance in Sulur by-election. In his manifesto for Sulur, Pongalur Palanisamy has assured various schemes to improve the livelihood of farmers of the region.
"While the farmers are already facing the wrath of water scarcity, the State and the Central governments are aggravating the issue by attempting to high power transmission towers in agricultural lands. If this situation persists, the farmers will see no ray of hope. Hence, its pertinent to cast out votes for DMK which has promised to waive 100% of farmer loans across the State", said DMK farmers wing State Vice President, Tamil Mani during a door-to-door campaign.
He added that among the many woes of the people in the Sulur assembly constituency, water scarcity for irrigational purposes has put the lives of farmers at stake.
Muthu Manickam, In-Charge of Farmers wing (south) along with other members also met the farmers of the region and briefed them on the manifesto of DMK which emphasises on loan waivers and implementation of Anaimalai-Nallaru scheme, restoration of Noyyal river wastes and revoking the plan of laying high power transmission towers in agricultural lands.
"Once the Anaimalai-Nallaru scheme is implemented, close to 4,24,547 acres of agricultural land will get irrigated and 2100 villages will be restored from drought" he added.
