In 2018, Subramani of Tirupur Kallangadu sexually assaulted a 7-year old girl who was playing in that area by luring her to watch a movie on his cellphone. Following this, the parents of the girl filed a complaint at Tirupur (south) Women's Police Station and the police registered a case against the accused. The accused was sentenced to seven years imprisonment under the POCSO Act and a fine of Rs.5000 was slapped on him.
In a similar case where Murugasamy of Madathukulam sexually assaulted a 9-year-old minor girl taking her to his house when she was on her way back home from school, in the year 2018, the accused has now been sentenced to life imprisonment under the POCSO Act and fined Rs.10,000.
P Karthik of Perunthozhuvu sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl by abducting her and carrying her off into a forest area. He was ordered five years imprisonment under the POCSO Act and Rs.5000 fine for his crime.
The District Mahila Court magistrate, Jayanthi who had been hearing these three sexual assault cases issued the verdict today. The criminals were taken to the Coimbatore central prison, thereafter.
