Kandasamy filed his nomination with the Electoral officer Balakrishnan today to contest as the AIADMK candidate in the Sulur by-poll. Minister SP Velumani and members of allied parties were also present. After filing his nomination papers, Kandasamy addressed the media, saying, "I will fulfill all the schemes assured by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. I will be one among the people and will fulfill their requirements. I own houses at Sulthanpettai and Sulur, and I will do my duties from there. I will focus on fulfilling the requirements of the under-privileged people and farmers, and will win the Sulur by-election with a difference margin of 50,000 votes."
Responding to the question on whether the ex-minister S M Velusamy was disgruntled at not being given the seat, Minister S P Velumani said, "All are staying united in our party and we will win the election with 50,000 votes difference."
