Nilgiris : It is estimated that over 30 lakh tourists flock the Queen of Hills every year to enjoy its scenic beauty and salubrious climate, in summer. Tourist spots like the Ooty Botanical Garden, Dodabetta, Pykara, Ooty Boat House, Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Coonoor SIMS park, Kodanad view point near Kotagiri along with the quintessential Nilgiri Mountain Railway ride are a huge draw for the tourists, every year.

Adding to the attractions, the Karnataka Horticulture Department opened a new park in January, last year. Built at a cost of Rs.12 crore, the park is symbolic of the friendship between the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The park has been named as the Karnataka Siri Horticulture Garden, the land for which was donated by the former Maharaja of Mysore, with an intention of helping farmers to grow potatoes. Some of the features of the garden are a glass house for temperate plants, topiary garden, small lakes of water, attractive Pallet and Italian gardens. The park is looked at as a true model for linguistic friendship.
