"Those affected are saying that complaints regarding such fraudulent companies are not being received at police stations," read the complaint.
Ashok Srinidhi, PMK’s Youth wing In-charge who visited the Commissioner's office to file the complaint said, “The fraudulent companies which are operating in Coimbatore are targeting educated youth. If people go to the police station to file a complaint regarding this, the police are not receiving complaints.
A separate team to investigate these complaints, a separate telephone and WhatsApp number for registering complaints should be created by the police department for the sake of the public. Only then the affected people can file complaints easily,” he added.
Fraudulent companies and fraudsters are on the rise in the past few years in Coimbatore district. Youth looking for better prospects abroad at any cost are targeted. These companies lure such youth, fleece lakhs of rupees from youth and send them to various foreign countries.
But once the youngsters land abroad with high expectations and dreams, they are underpaid and slave-driven to work for long hours, sometimes even 15-16 hours. Public complain that the police are not taking necessary action on the complaints filed by these youngsters.
In particular, several complaints have been received against the 'Action School Of Maritime and Logistics,' which is a private firm operating with Gandhipuram as its headquarters. They not only target youth in Coimbatore, but also across the State luring them with assurances of securing them lucrative jobs in foreign countries.
