With the onset of the jackfruit season, it is a veritable treat to see 50 trees out of the 61 jack trees in the farm already bearing large fruits. Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus), also known as the jack tree is a species of tree in the fig, mulberry, and breadfruit family (Moraceae) native to southwest India.
The Horticulture Department has decided to sell the fruits after auction, on an agreement basis. The management, which had fixed Rs.10 per kg as the selling price similar to last year, has announced that it will make soon make arrangements for sale of the jackfruits.
