Coimbatore : In a lucky escape, residents of a house at Dhoomanur in Anaikatti Hills were left uninjured after an elephant rampaged their house on Friday night.
Coimbatore : In a lucky escape, residents of a house at Dhoomanur in Anaikatti Hills were left uninjured after an elephant rampaged their house on Friday night.
The resident C. Perumal (58), a resident of the Dhoomanur tribal settlement was fast asleep in his house along with his wife and children in Friday night, when a wild elephant came near his house.
In an attempt to find food in the house, the elephant had started damaging the walls of his house. It had brought down a wall in the portico and had also damaged the roof.
Hearing the commotion, neighbours had rushed to the spot and chased the elephant away from the house and all the residents were left uninjured.
With forests drying out post frequent forest fires, wild animals continue to roam close to human habitations. Due to increased elephant movement even during day time, the foresters have requested people living close to reserve forests to refrain from venturing into reserve forests.
