Kuppuraj (38), Sub-inspector of Kuniyamuthur police station was on his two-wheeler with Srinivasan another policemen riding on the pillion. On the road leading to the Coimbatore Government Hospital from the Ukkadam bypass road, Kuppuraj reportedly took a turn but unexpectedly collided with another two-wheeler coming in the opposite direction. Subsequently, both policemen fell from their two-wheeler onto the road and had to be rushed to Ganga Hospital. Later, both policemen were shifted to GH.
Srinivasan has been admitted to the intensive care unit at GH since he reportedly sustained severe injuries on his head.
