Coimbatore: With the election campaign in Tamil Nadu all set to come to a grinding halt by 6 pm today, senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy tweeted a curious remark calling nationalists in Tamil Nadu to vote for the TTV Dhinakaran-led Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazhagam.
Subramanian Swamy who is known for his surprising comments took to Twitter last evening to say, "After reviewing with VHS the TN situation, I feel nationalists in TN should vote for the Amma party of Dhinakaran.” Slamming all political parties as corrupt, Swamy noted that Dhinakaran was good for national unity. “As for corruption, all TN parties are the same. But Dhinakaran is good for national unity,” read the tweet.
The tweet had gone viral on social media at a time when political parties have been accusing TTV Dhinakaran of trying to ally with BJP. Analysts claim that the BJP could try to garner support from Dhinakaran if a hung assembly is the result, in the post election scenario. While even the BJP cadres seemed confused by Swamy’s remarks, notably this is the not the first time that Swamy has surprised his own party men with such statements. Earlier, he caused a stir with his remark that he was not a 'Chowkidar' but a Brahmin, when the entire lot of BJP leaders, including Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were changing their twitter handle by adding 'Chowkidar' to their names.
