Coimbatore: Karthi (a) 'Thengaipaal' Karthi, a resident of Kembatti Colony had various cases registered against him in different police stations for mobile thefts, chain snatching and illegal ganja sales.
City police had registered a case against Karthi for Ganja sales and initiated an inquiry at the B-1 police station, yesterday. When the police were about to take him to court, it is reported that Karthi collapsed suddenly, following which he was rushed to CMCH where doctors declared him dead.
Karthi's relatives have raised doubts about his death. Though police say that he died because of fits, his relatives suspect that he may have consumed cyanide. His body was subjected to postmortem in front of Judge Iniya Karunakaran. His relatives have agreed to receive his remains.
