Coimbatore: The flying squad led by Suresh seized over 1 crore rupees from a private vehicle, during a routine vehicle check at Kannappan Nagar.
The employees and security present in the vehicle said that they are carrying it to an ATM. But the officials seized the cash since appropriate documents were not found for the money. Following this, the flying squad handed over the amount to the Assistant Election Officer, Amudhan at the Coimbatore Collectorate after which it was surrendered to the District Treasury. The employees were told that they could recover the money once the appropriate documents are submitted.
A similar incident happened in front of the Government College of Technology when another flying squad led by Ashok Kumar checked a vehicle which was reportedly carrying Rs.35 lakhs in cash to an ATM without proper documents. The authorities seized the cash and handed it over the Assistant Electoral Officer Amudhan, who in turn surrendered the amount to the district treasury after verification.
