The Meteorological department had predicted that this summer would began from the last week of March and that the highest temperature will be recorded in the month of April. It was also predicted that summer showers will only begin from the first week of May.
The Director of Agro Climate Research Station at TNAU, Ramanathan said, "Summer rain cannot be predicted accurately as we predict seasonal rainfall. Highest temperature is recorded as 38 degree celsius this summer which is higher than the average temperature. As the temperature increases, the average rainfall will be 75 mm to 80 mm which is less than the average rainfall of 110 mm. The rainfall may continue for 5 to 6 days," he stated.
