Tirupur: The process of attaching candidates names and their symbols to EVMs began at 9 am, today in Tiruppur.
In the first phase, 60 teams comprising of four people per team are involved in this process at the North and South regions of Tiruppur. The process kick-started in the presence of all party candidates' agents for 434 EVMs in 362 polling booths at the Tiruppur North constituency and 279 EVMs in 233 polling booths at the Tiruppur South constituency.
Due to the delay in segregating EVMs and VVPAT machines, the process which was supposed to start at 9 am was delayed until 12 pm. The District Collector who monitored the process advised the officials to speed up the task of preparing the machines which was to have ended this evening but is now expected to continue till tomorrow.
