Members of Hindu Munnani waylay Veeramani's car in Tirupur; police use lathi charge

Tirupur: The members of Hindu Munnani on Monday evening, waylaid the car of Dravidar Kazhagam leader, K. Veeramani who was on the way to attend a party meeting in Tirupur. Following this, the police dissolved the crowd by launching lathi charge.

The senior political leader was in Tirupur to gather support for the secular progressive alliance candidate Subbarayan of CPI at Karattangadu in Tirupur. 

Tense moments prevailed at Tirupur, as the police had to disperse the crowd using lathi charge.

K. Veeramani, the senior leader of Dravida Kalagam has been booked by the Central Crime Branch(CCB) based on complaints from the Hindu Makkal Katchi and Thirumoolar Thiruthondu, for his controversial comments on Hindu deity Krishna. 

According to The Hindu, Veeramani was booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 153 (Wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (Promoting enmity between classes), 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings), 298 (Uttering, words, etc., with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person), 505 (1)(b), (Inducing any person to commit an offence against the State or against the public tranquility) and 505(1)(c)(statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes).
