Coimbatore : In a passionate appeal to the public, the CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat said, "Like striking two mangoes with one stone, people should overthrow both the Modi and EPS-OPS governments with their votes."
The CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat was campaigning at Periyanaickenpalayam for the CPI (M) candidate of Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency, P R Natarajan. Brinda Karat who spoke to the crowd in English scoffed at both the ruling governments saying, "Jayalalithaa is the one who challenged Modi stating, "Modi or Lady?" but today’s AIADMK leaders are calling Modi "Daddy, daddy."
Reverting back to the native language Brinda Karat said, "Like striking two mangoes with one stone, people should overthrow Modi, the big brother in Delhi and his small brothers EPS-OPS from power with their votes."
Pollachi was known for its agriculture and hard-working people. But, today it has lost its pride because of its rulers. We had a difference of opinion with Jayalalithaa, then. But, if she were alive now, think about the condition of Pollachi Jayaraman with regard to the Pollachi sexual abuse issue. But in contrast, the present leaders in Tamil Nadu are trying to protect him. Pollachi Jayaraman should remove ‘Pollachi’ from his name as it is degrading the people of Pollachi," she slammed the AIADMK leaders.
"Modi has no faith in democracy. Many small and medium scale industries and businesses were closed due to the implementation of demonetization and GST," alleged Brinda Karat. Earlier, Suba Veerapandian also opined that "Modi cannot destroy the thoughts of Periyar from this Tamil soil. How can people who stand by the words of Anna go behind Modi? Saffron and Red are in battle in Coimbatore whereas in Nilgiris it is between black and saffron," she noted.
"The rape and murder of the minor girl in the city has triggered panic in Coimbatore. CPI (M) will always stand by the side of the victim's parents to get justice," reiterated Brinda Karat who later met and consoled the victim's family.
