Coimbatore : The National General Secretary of the CPI(M) was here in Coimbatore today. He addressed the press today from the historic Jeeva Illam which is the headquarters of the CPI(M).

While addressing the press from Jeeva Illam, he said the “Post poll alliance of secular, democratic and anti-BJP parties will be far higher than what it is right now. All the parties that are against the right wing fascist philosophy of BJP will join together.”

While speaking about the AIADMK, he said “The AIADMK leadership have surrendered to the BJP who are holding them under tight leash using evidence of all their corrupt and dubious activities.

The sad thing about today’s BJP government is it is the complete opposite of what the Vajpayee government. The Modi government has completely derailed the democratic institutions like CBI, Reserve Bank, Income Tax and Courts and has brought them under his control.

The attacks on Dalits and Muslims has also increased considerably since Modi took over. He has changed the educational institutions as per the guidelines from RSS. He has misused the name of the army for his personal gains.

But despite him circumventing all the democratic institutions, the defeats electorally in the last two years have shown the power of the people to him. They have lost Bihar, Delhi, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and they are running minority governments in Goa and Manipur.

The rout of BJP across the country and particularly in South India is not very far as there is huge anti-Modi wave in the country. People should come out in large numbers and vote for DMK, Congress and Communist alliance to help us remove this BJP Government.”

When quizzed about Congress President Rahul Gandhi contesting from Wayanad, he noted that “Rahul contesting from Wayanad is a wrong move. Though Wayanad has voted for the Congress over the last two elections, the defeat margin in the last election conducted here was very low and I’m confident the Communist Party will defeat Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad”
