Parsn Sesh Nestle road continues to be inaccessible to public, Corporation officials inaction questioned

In spite of the assurance given by the Corporation, Parsn Sesh Nestle is yet to open out its road for public use.

In spite of the assurance given by the Corporation, Parsn Sesh Nestle is yet to open out its road for public use.

The two-year battle for Kanagasundaram, a resident of the Parsn Sesh Nestle to open up the gated community's road for public use seems never-ending in spite of assurance from Corporation officials that they would do the needful to open up the road for public use. Parsn Sesh Nestle under Ward no.75, East Zone has 615 apartments (including villas) and uses the 60-feet scheme road as their private property, which connects Nanjundapuram and Ukkadam.

Kanagasundaram has been fighting for the gated community's road to be opened out for public use since 2017. He had filed a query under the RTI regarding the road under question, two years ago but had not received a proper reply from the Corporation and hence petitioned the RTI Commissioner .

The RTI Commissoner conducted an inquiry in february during which the Assistant Commissioner, East Zone agreed to act on Kanagasundaram's query and open up the road for public use.

Commenting on the delay in action, Kanagasundaram said, "After an inquiry conducted in february at the District Collector's office, the Assistant Commissioner, East Zone who appeared for the inquiry along with the Town Planning Officer had agreed to do the needful but no action has been initiated till date. Now that it is not done, I will file a "non-compliance" case against the concerned official."

"The 60-feet road was shrunk to a 33-ft road without proper legal procedures. If this road is put to public use, it will reduce traffic congestion on Ramanathupuram-Nanjundapuram road and will make it easier for commuters to reach Ukkadam without having to go to Ramanathapuram signal. But the Association is not willing to open up the road for public use fearing that the property value will go down," added Kanagasundaram.

Kanagasundaram also mentioned about the approvals needed on the same issue, which were supposedly sanctioned by the East Zone Assistant Commissioner. "Nearly 20 approvals are needed and I needed those approvals in case I have to approach the Court. I have not received them yet. The RTI Commissioner instructed the Corporation officials to give me those approvals. The officials agreed to give me eight approvals the same day and the rest within 90 days. But I got only one, finally from them. It is shocking to know that the Corporation does not have approval copies given in the last 15 years. If they had given 20 approvals, all of them should all be reviewed," he added. The association has now erected a board denying access to the public which is highly condemnable.

When approached for a response to the long-standing issue, Swaminathan of Parsn Sesh Nestle's Residents Association said, "Let them show the order from the RTI Commissioner if there is any. We we will respond after that."

The current Corporation Assistant Commissioner, East Zone has now assured to look into the issue and take immediate action.
