Tirupur : Supporting the candidate V.S. Chandira Kumar contesting in Tirupur constituency from Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), the President of MNM, Kamal Haasan campaigned at Tirupur and reckoned that the gathering of the people during his campaign cannot be gathered by any other existing political parties without horse trading.

Kamal remarked that the debut election of MNM is an important one and added “This election should not be looked only as an election to choose our Prime Minister. When young literates choose to opt for ‘NOTA’ and people like Durai Murugan launders money, who will save the nation?".

"When parties give fake promises to the public on giving employment opportunities for 1 crore people without even having a scheme for it, what should we do?", questioned Kamal.

"If the representatives from Makkal Needhi Maiam fail to fulfill their promises, they will be asked to step down from the positions. Because MNM believes and practices 'accountability' and 'timeline'. But, how about other parties? Will they dare to promise the same?" asked the MNM leader.

During the campaign, some youngsters were even spotted sitting on the branches of trees to get a clear glimpse of Kamal Haasan. The crowd reciprocated their support and cheered him by waving with their mobile flash lights and whistles.

When one among them whistled, while Kamal Haasan was speaking about the manifesto of MNM for Tirupur, an annoyed Kamal said that “Whistling won’t help, ground work is the only way to make our promises successful, please maintain silence”.

Amidst the speech Kamal Haasan took a while to drink water and told the crowd “Seeing the color of the water, please don’t assume that this 'TASMAC' water, by the way I just drank mineral water”. The crowd broke out into laughter with this statement of Kamal Haasan.
