Kamaraj, a writeer from Tuticorin had filed a petition with the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court that excavation should be carried out in Parambu, following Adichanallur. The petition came for hearing before the bench of Magistrates Kirubakaran and S S Sundar. During the hearing, the Judges questioned that though it has been 16 years since the excavation took place in Adichanallur, why has a report not been submitted till date.
The Archaeological Department in its reply said, "Materials gained during excavation in Adichanallur have been sent to Florida in USA for carbon research. As per the reports, the period of a particle is found to be BC 905 and a period of another particle is found to be BC 701. The Archaeological Department has also sought extra time to answer on this case.
"Even after it was found that Tamil is the ancient language in India, is it the Central government or the State government that is about to begin excavation work with carbon research reports?" questioned the Magistrates. They also adjourned the case to April 11.
