"To defend the republic of our country and to smash the caste-based dominance in the country, we need new and fresh politicians with new ideologies that can help a future India. Since I found those principles and ideologies in Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) led by Kamal Haasan, I extend my support to the party in the upcoming elections," stated Yogendra Yadav.
Yadav has reportedly been impressed with the principles and ideologies of MNM's President, Kamal Haasan and hence decided to campaign for MNM at Tirupur and Erode, along with Kamal Haasan. Yadav is well-known for his protest against the Salem-Coimbatore 8 way green corridor plan in the State and for formally supporting farmers in their protests.
"I am here, not to help Kamal Haasan and MNM but rather I am seeking help from MNM to bring in change to the nation's politics. Though Dravida parties in Tamil Nadu started with good principles, now there are no proper principles and policies existing in those parties," said Yogendra Yadav. He also added that new principles like federalism, social justice and rationalism should be followed by leaders who are responsible to take these principles to the common people in the state and country. He further added that MNM in Tamil Nadu represents these principles and hoped MNM would lead Tamil Nadu in the right path.
Yogendra Yadav also requested Kamal Haasan to come out of Tamil Nadu and interact with people of other states in the country to make them aware of these principles and highlight that the Republic of India is under threat. He concluded his speech by saying, "We are looking forward to a long term association with Makkal Needhi Maiam to bring about a much-needed change in politics."
Speaking to the media, K Balakrishnan, the Tamil Nadu President of Swaraj India party said, "One of the major reasons for supporting MNM is that they have been raising a voice for the farmers, since the inception of the party."
Dr. R Mahendran, Vice President of MNM addressed the media sying, "We are happy to have Swaraj India party with MNM. Yogendra Yadav has always looked out for new politicians to change the politics of our country. We are glad that our principles and ideologies impressed him to extend his support to MNM."
