Coimbatore: The Race Course police have filed case against Jalaluddin, Naseer, Banna under 3 sections for attacking Santosh Kumar, the accused of the minor girl victim in the Pannimadai rape and murder case.
A police team was taking the accused to the Coimbatore Central Prison from the forensic science department at the Government Hospital when the incident happened. The attackers breached police security and began to hit Santosh Kumar. The police managed to rescue Santosh Kumar from the men and left the hospital premises immediately. The police had taken him to CMCH to conduct a potency test.
Santosh Kumar is the prime accused in the rape and murder case of the seven-year old who had gone missing from her home at Pannimadai on March 25. Her body was recovered from the backyard of her house, the next day. Autopsy reports revealed that she had been raped and strangled to death. The gruesome crime sparked off rage across the city and protests were staged demanding maximum punishment for the accused. Santosh Kumar who was the girl's neighbour, staying in his grandmother's house reportedly lured the girl while she was playing outside her home.
