Tiruppur: The Tiruppur Police have arrested a person for duping Rs.5.65 lakhs from a person, in the promise of a job at apple garden in Australia.
Ramesh of Settipalayam, Tiruppur runs a grocery shop in the same area. Two men, who have been identified as Naresh and Vijay, approached him and assured him of a job at apple gardens in Australia promising him that he could earn Rs.90,000 per month. They told him that the visa and other expenses could cost about Rs.1.85 lakhs. Ramesh was then introduced to a person named Arul of Malaysia saying he would make all the necessary arrangements to go to Australia.
Believing these promises in 2012, Ramesh gave them Rs.1.85 lakhs. Following this, Ramesh was reportedly taken to Chennai and provided with a tourist visa. Ramesh who grew suspicious after seeing the tourist visa questioned them, for which they replied that the tourist visa was provided for now since it would take some time for the employment visa.
The gang has allegedly duped Rs.1.90 lakhs from Rajesh of Chinnakarai and Rs.1.90 lakhs from Ragupathi of Rakkipalayam, in a similar manner. Following this, in 2016, Ramesh had filed a complaint with the Tiruppur crime branch. The police have now arrested a person Naresh and are on the lookout for two more persons with regard to the frauds committed.
