Tirupur: The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) organized an “Awareness Workshop on Implementation of e-Sanchit Portal under Single Window Project” on April 2 at the IKF Complex, Pazhankarai Village, Tiruppur.
The aim of the workshop was to help facilitate Tirupur exporters on how to register in the portal and explain new changes in the issuance of Import certificate from this fiscal year. A good number of participants from the trade attended the workshop.
As per the guidelines of CBIC, the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, from April 1, 2019 onward, AEPC offices on pan India will be issuing EPC/IC only through online. The core objective of the Single Window project online is to make the process of customs clearance completely paperless and to ensure that trade is not made to re-submit information that is already available with the Government agencies.
While inaugurating the workshop Dr. ASakthivel, Vice Chairman of the Council said, "This is an important day for the exporters because long awaited online uploading of the Import certificate directly to the customs portal has been implemented. This will speed up the work and avoid unnecessary time delay. In future, all customs-related i.e., import and export related works will be connected through online and the exporters will also be prepared to meet the requirement of the new system of implementation.
This will also reduce the workload of the exporters since they can avail this benefit anywhere from India. AEPC is committed to support and assist the exporters in various forms and ways, and therefore exporters can utilise these benefits and try to increase their exports," he added.
V Elangovan, EC Member of the Council was also present at the workshop. Abhinandan Rajpal, General Manager, IT, AEPC from Gurgaon gave a detailed PPT presentation on how to register, upload the Import certificate in the portal and so on. Subsequently, Abdul Nasser, Superintendent of Customs explained about the e-Sanchit portal and also informed exporters that in future everything will be done only through this portal, and advised all exporters to register in the portal for their own benefit. In the interactive session, detailed explanations were given to the exporters by a team of officials from Customs and AEPC.
Though this has been AEPC's first workshop, AEPC plans to conduct many more on an all-India basis to facilitate more of their members and exporters. The Assistant Commissioner, GST and Central Excise, Tiruppur was also present to clear the GST doubts of exporters.
Exporters who attended the workshop appreciated the good initiative taken by AEPC and thanked the Council for arranging a workshop for trade at this juncture since everyone felt the need for it.
