The Nilgiris: People residing in and around Kariya Malai region of Manjoor panicked today, due to the movement of a lone elephant.
Kariya Malai is surrounded by tea estates. A lone elephant entered the region and strayed into the tea estates for a few hours. Due to this, tea estate workers stayed back in their homes without heading out for work.
The elephant then entered a nearby garden on Manjoor main road. People in the area have urged the forest department to chase the elephant back into the forest.
