Coimbatore: The Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) leader, Velmurugan met the parents of the seven-year-old girl who was raped and murdered recently in Pannimadai and gave them Rs.1 lakh as financial assistance.
Later, while addressing the media, he said, "Medical tests revealed that the girl had been gang raped. But till date, a case has been registered against only one person. It is alleged that the culprit also murdered his grandmother. Investigation should be initiated on this. I am against death penalty generally but in this case, I urge the law to sentence the culprit with a death penalty because he has raped and murdered a seven-year old girl. I am ready to extend financial support to the family of the girl," he added.
