Due to soaring temperatures even as summer sets in, fire breakouts are becoming a common occurrence in the forests of the Nilgiris. In this scenario, the unexpected fire in the Vandisolai forest range near Coonoor has still not been brought under control, though 40 people comprising of fire fighters and public are untiringly working towards putting the fire out.
The forest department has issued stern warnings to people who infiltrate into deep forests and set fire on purpose.
