Flying squad seizes 1 kg of gold jewellery in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: The electoral flying squads have been on a seizing spree lately in the city confiscating unaccounted cash, gold and even wheat during vehicle checks.


Coimbatore: The electoral flying squads have been on a seizing spree lately in the city confiscating unaccounted cash, gold and even wheat during vehicle checks. 



In one such regular vehicle check in Raja street area here today, the flying squad found 1 kg gold jewelry in a car. Upon enquiring with the driver, the squad was told that the jewels belong to Kirtilal Jewellers from raja street and the jewels were being shifted from the goldsmiths. Since there were no proper documents for the jewels, the officials took the driver Veerayyan and the shop worker Nitin to the RDO office and surrendered the jewels to RDO Dhanabalan.



The information of the jewels being seized was passed on to the Income Tax officers who are currently investigating the matter.
