The Nilgiris: The Nilgiris Police has stated that paramilitary forces of 5 companies will be deployed for election-related duties in the district.
More than 200 paramilitary personnel will be deployed for election duty in the district. The local police have also tightened vehicle checks in the district. Paramilitary forces will be deployed alongside flying squads at check posts for security purposes. A team of local police and revenue officials have also been deployed at every check post.
Nilgiris SP Shanmuga Priya said, "We have sought 5 companies' paramilitary forces for the upcoming elections and they are expected to arrive soon. Once the elections are over, they will deployed for counting votes in booths."
