Coimbatore : After six days of the child rape and murder case in Pannimadai here, the police have nabbed the accused on Sunday.
Following the DNA report, Santhosh Kumar who is a construction worker and painter by profession has been zeroed down as the accused who has committed the heinous crime of sexually assaulting and murdering a 7-year-old in Pannimadai here who went missing on March 25 and was found dead on the wee hours, the next day.

Though the accused Santhosh Kumar is not a resident of Pannimadai, he frequently visited the place, as his grand parents lived close by the child's home.
Sources say that, on March 25, Santhosh Kumar had visited his grand parents home and was said to be in an inebriated state. He then saw the child playing in front of the house and abducted her. Later, he sexually abused the child and killed her. He had then disposed the body at the back yard of the child's house and escaped.

However, the police are yet to reveal how exactly he abducted the child in a busy street? Where did he sexually assault the child? How did he murder and dispose the child's body?
On the same day, when the child had gone missing, it is reported that Santhosh Kumar's grand mother also had died. Unconfirmed sources say that his grand mother had died under mysterious circumstances.
Hence, it is highly speculated that Santhosh Kumar could have a hand in his grand mother's death, as well.
Initially reports said that the child was sexually assaulted by a gang of 4-5 people. Even six people including Santhosh Kumar were interrogated by the police for the past 6 days. Now, conclusive reports indicate that Santhosh Kumar is the only person behind the brutality.
