Coimbatore : Coimbatore District Collector, K.Rajamani, on Sunday morning welcomed the election awareness train which carried statements stressing 100 percent voting in the upcoming parliamentary elections at the city today.

As part of Voter Awareness campaign for Lok Sabha Election 2019, Election Commission of India and Indian Railways have come together to utilize four long distance Trains to carry voter awareness and motivational messages. The Train displays important contact for the citizens including the Voter Helpline number and the National Voters’ Services Portal besides motivational messages urging them to Vote.
The train no: 12626 reached Coimbatore at 5.00 am today which was welcomed by the District Collector. Election awareness pamplets and posters were distributed to the passengers.
Various election officials and officials from the Railways participated in the event.
On 29th March, 2019, Mr Ranbir Singh, CEO Delhi , Ms Padma Angmo, Director, Election Commission of India and Mr R N Singh, DRM, Delhi flagged off Kerala Express at New Delhi Railway Station. Kerala express will be flagged off by State Chief Electoral Officers and District Election Officers at the State and District HQs as it traverses across the country. Similarly other three trains shall also be flagged off during their maiden journey in coming weeks.
