A Kerala government bus from Pathanamthitta plying to Bangalore when the accident happened near Avinashi in which 14 passengers including two children were injured. The bus was driven by Jaison and had 26 passengers. According to sources the bus was travelling in a very high speed.
Around 2.20 a.m near Avinashi in the Coimbatore- Salem six lane road in the Mangalam road the driver lost control and crashed the bus into the side walls when the bus flew for about 30 feet and dashed into the flyover hanging from there. Avinashi police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers.
The list of passengers injured in the accident - Saida DAvid ( 26), Trissur, Jobi( 33) Kollam, Saja Thomas (24) Pathinathitta, Vijitha (28) Trissur and her daughter Krishna Nandha (4), Subi ( 28) Pathinamthitta, Litti Mathew (25), Atchaya ( 7), Pradeep Kumar (41), Dhanya (36), all from Pathinamthitta, Sukhil ( 25) from Trissur. In total 6 men , 4 women and 2 children were injured in the accident. The injured passengers were taken to Avinashi Government hospital for first aid and taken to Coimbatore government hospital for further treatment.
Jaison was rescued after a struggle for one hour by the rescue personnel. On inquiry it was found that Jaison was drunk while driving which led to the accident. But it was a miraculous escape for the passengers who escaped with minor injuries in such a major accident.
