Coimbatore : Coming down heavily on the slow actions of the police department and judiciary on harassment and rape cases, the Coimbatore District Joint Association for the Safety of Women and Children (CDJASWC) have accused both of trying to protect criminals.

Addressing media people here, members of CDJASWC claimed that the District Superintendent of Police of Coimbatore Pandiyarajan should be suspended adding that legal actions should be initiated against him.

“The duty of government does not end with just filing a case. As per law, compensation of Rs.5 lakh should be handed over to the victim within 8 days in case of sexual assault,” he said.

However, they said that these laws were not put in practice. Talking about the Pollachi sexual abuse case, they said that truth could be found only if the Police officials in Pollachi are changed.
