Coimbatore : In the backdrop of recent sexual abuse cases against women in Pollachi and Coimbatore, the District Diocese in Coimbatore organised an awareness and confidence building event on cyber security and human rights, in which about 400 men and women participated. The event was organized to urge the civil society to combat cyber violence against women and girls, which could be prevented with zero tolerance approach.
Coimbatore : In the backdrop of recent sexual abuse cases against women in Pollachi and Coimbatore, the District Diocese in Coimbatore organised an awareness and confidence building event on cyber security and human rights, in which about 400 men and women participated. The event was organized to urge the civil society to combat cyber violence against women and girls, which could be prevented with zero tolerance approach.
Addressing the event, Bishop of Coimbatore Dioceses of Church of South India, Rt. Rev. Timothy Ravinder highlighted the reasons for increase in cyber crime against women and also the need for women to be aware of combating techniques. "Women should come forward and open up on any form of sexual harassment or abuse," he stressed.
Inspector of Police, Ruby of Gandhipuram in her special address advised the women to download the app 'Kavalan SOS' to report such emergencies. "Such complaints will be attended on priority and the police will reach the destination within 10 minutes," she noted. She also advised the women not to fall prey to strangers.
