Coimbatore : Following regular requests from the residents of the three tribal hamlets near Mankarai, District Collector and District Electoral Officer K Rajamani ordered today the swift completion of the long overdue Green House projects in the settlements situated 28 kms from the city.

The District Collector inspected the polling booth in Dhoomanur where 331 voters from the hamlets of Chembukkarai, Dhoomanur and Milagayampathi (Kaatusalai) will be casting their votes on April 18. The Collector was accompanied by the Election Observer for Coimbatore Constituency, Renu Jaipal.

The team inspected the polling booths in the hill regions of the 24 Veerapandi Panchayats including Chinnajambugandi, Kondanur and Anaikatti, during which they directed officials to complete constructing ramps in certain booths along with making sure all basic requirements are available.

While visiting the three remote hamlets around Dhoomanur, the issue of Green Houses was brought to the notice of the District Collector by the residents, who claimed that despite starting in 2016, not even a single house had been completed. 44 houses were allotted to the tribals by the State Government under the Green Houses Project.

He directed the officials-in-charge of the scheme to complete the construction as soon as possible. The people also requested the administration to install street lights and rectify the drinking water problem in the hamlets. The Collector assured them that street lights will be installed within a week and also that there will no more be drinking water scarcity there.
