UMT Raja, a goldsmith based in Kuniyamuthur carves miniatures to create awareness on various issues plaguing the society. During Pongal, he designed bulls to show the importance of the Jallikattu issue.
Ahead of the elections, he has carved various political party symbols including the Lotus, Rising Sun and Two Leaves symbols. Another miniature that he has made is a compass and pencil in which a person raises his hand with the black ink mark, depicting the importance of casting votes.
Raja has also carved 18 symbols in one gram silver which are sealed in a pencil box stressing that everyone should cast their vote. He said that it took him two days to carve all these miniatures.
