Coimbatore: Soon after Kamal Haasan and the Makkal Needhi Maiam's legal team visited the home of the raped and murdered minor victim in Pannimadai, Kamal Haasan addressed the media slamming the security in Tamil Nadu saying, "If a child cannot play safely 20 yards from her own home, then there is no truth in calling Tamil Nadu a safe state."
To provide legal support and stand by the victim's family in their grief, Kamal Haasan along with his legal experts arrived at the girl's home and offered their condolences to the victim's family. They urged the ruling government to take prompt action to arrest all the culprits involved in the heinous crime. The brutal nature of the crime against the seven-year old girl who was reportedly raped and murdered by a gang here in the city on Tuesday sent shock waves across the city.
Addressing the media, Kamal Haasan said, "I have met the parents of the little girl and it does not seem to me that they have got justice. I believe the police will take all the necessary action required in this case. The West Zone IG is busy attending to electoral duties and hence could not make time for us to meet him directly regarding this issue.
If a child cannot be sent outside to play 20 yards from her own home, how safe is Tamil Nadu as a state then? The panic that has been caused among the public owing to this crime has to be quickly dispelled.

I did not come to offer condolences just because of elections but would have anyway come because these kind of crimes need to be prevented and it is every single person's duty to see to it. It cannot be true that in a small city, the culprits have not been nabbed yet. More than the elections, it is the grief of the parents and the death of the child that is important.

Tamil Nadu was cited as a state for the most number of atrocities against children according to a research report and though that ought not to be true, it now seems scary that it could actually be true. Let us not talk about every department being corrupt in the State, but let us believe that the police department here will take all necessary action in this case.
He requested people in the neighbourhood not to receive a reward if they trace the culprits, but to cooperate and volunteer any information that they may have about the culprits to help the police nab them soon.
