Tirupur : During a vehicle check in Karadivavi area in Tirupur district, a flying squad team confiscated Rs.10 crores. According to the documents, the cash was being carried from Tamilnad Mercantile Bank in Coimbatore to Pudukottai village in Tuticorin.
Since the officials were not convinced if the cash was sent from Coimbatore to Pudukottai district or Tuticorin district, they handed over the entire cash to the Palladam Tahsildar, Shanthi and also informed the Income Tax officers.
Thereafter, the bank officials arrived at the Tahsildar's office and produced proper documents. After nine hours of investigation, the Income Tax Officials were convinced that the cash belongs to the Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank and that it was indeed being transferred to Pudukottai village in Tuticorin district. "Pudukottai village in Tuticorin was misunderstood as Pudukottai district, which led to all this confusion," clarified the officials.
