In a tirade against both the Central and State governments for their apathy in cases of sexual crimes against women and little girls, the DMK candidate said, “Pollachi, which was popularly known for various eminent things is now recognized as a place of sexual abuse. Mobsters have sexually assaulted hundreds of women for more than seven years and ruling party members are reportedly connected to this case.
What did this Edappadi government do to those criminals who crushed the life of those women? They only disclosed the identity of the victim and released videos to threaten other women who came forward to complain," noted K Shanmugasundaram.
He also slammed the Modi government saying, “What did the Modi government do in Asifa's murder case? Not even a minimum punishment was meted out to the culprits by Modi’s fascist government." He highlighted the Coimbatore child rape and murder case stating, “A 7-year old girl who was playing in front of her house was kidnapped, raped and murdered, which is horrifying.
Sexual harassment of women and children have become a daily news under the BJP and AIADMK governments. The Edappadi government is indifferent to the safety of women and children. No serious action has been taken in all these years of ruling the State," opined Shanmugasundaram.
“Even Government hospitals are considering women as of no consequence. How many deaths have occurred due to carelessness or negligence in these hospitals under the AIADMK rule? What was the action taken against those who carelessly injected HIV blood into a woman’s and child's bodies? Sources say that 15 pregnant women died in Krishnagiri due to transfusion of contaminated blood," he questioned.
"We, the DMK will ensure safety of women and the girl child by putting a stop to the sexual harrasment against them. Serious action will be taken against those who perpetrate such anti-social activities. We request you to vote for DMK,” concluded Shanmugasundaram in a passionate electoral campaign speech.
