Pollachi : Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of DMK Chief M K Stalin and the Managing Director of Murasoli introduced the DMK candidate K Shanmugasundaram who is contesting from the Pollachi constituency.

The election campaign which kick-started at Sulur, also covered various places like Chettipalayam, Vadachitoor, Negamum, Pethappampatti, Kaniyur, Komaralingam, Devanur, Sungam, Anaimalai, Jameen and Utthukuli. People thronged to meet him right through his campaign trail.

In his campaign speech, Udhayanidhi Stalin slammed Modi for promising a New India during the previous elections which never materialised. “Due to GST, more than 10 crores of people lost their jobs. Modi challenged the country saying within 100 days he would root out black money, or else to hang him. But it was only the people who suffered. Modi keeps boasting that he is the Saviour of the country but in reality, he is only a comedian. The actual hero of DMK is the election manifesto. A cinema has a hero and a villain, and Modi is the villain. If there is a villain, there will be bouncers, and those bouncers are OPS and EPS,” mocked Udhayanidhi Stalin.

He reassured the public in Pollachi that farmers loans would be waived off, NEET exams done away with and price of fuel would go back to what it used to be during the Congress rule.

Commenting on the recent sexual abuse scandal in Pollachi, Udhayanidhi Maran said, “There is no security for women under this Government. The sexual abuse case in Pollachi is shocking and will the Assembly Speaker, Pollachi Jayaraman have kept quiet if the same had happened in his house.” He highlighted the atrocity of a lady professor Nirmala Devi who forced women students into prostitution. “The sexual abuse against women and children are on the rise every passing day and the Tamil people should overthrow the ruling Government which is not providing security,” he opined.

In an obvious reference to the mystery shrouding the death of Jayalalithaa whom he felt that ADMK worshipped as their mother, Udhayanidhi Stalin questioned the silence of OPS who remained silent as long as he was in power but declared war when he had to step down from his position. “But all the rage quietened down once he was given the position of Chief Minister. He did not turn up for the inquiry constituted to investigate into Jayalalithaa’s death, even though summoned. This is why the irresponsible ruling Government needs to be overthrown,” he concluded.
