Coimbatore: Foresters of the Karamadai Forest Range on Tuesday arrested and detained four men for hunting a spotted deer near the Gobanari Reserve Forest within the Karamadai Reserve Forest.

The accused S. Sathishkumar, R. Rangasamy, R. Ranjith and P. Raghunathan all from Periyar Nagar in Karamadai were produced before the Mettupalayam Court today.

According to foresters, the men had reportedly shot down a spotted deer near the foothills of Kurunthamalai Murugan Temple, three kms away from the Gobanari Reserve around 3.00 am on Tuesday. They had further skinned the animal and shared the meat within them and kept the remains at their houses.
While Sathishkumar and Rangasamy were arrested based on a tip off, the remaining accused were arrested after confessions from the former.
