Coimbatore : The parents of the minor girl who was sexually assaulted and murdered in Coimbatore finally agreed to take the remains of the girl from CMCH, after ACP Balamurugan convinced the relatives and the Madhar Sangam members that necessary action was being initiated by the police department to mete out punishment to the culprits. He showed them videos of the four accused in the case.

Earlier, over 200 people were up in arms in the Thudiyalur area of Coimbatore staging a roadblock demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits responsible for the minor girl’s death, while also demanding severe punishment for those involved in the murder.

The parents of the child have petitioned the Collector mentioning their suspicion of four men in their locality who could have been responsible for the gruesome sexual assault and murder of their minor daughter. The suspects are Vijayakumar, Durairaj, Santosh Kumar and Vasanthakumar who reside near the couple's home. The parents have also requested immediate action against the accused.

The Madhar Sangam members who accompanied the parents requested the Collector to have the culprits arrested immediately and meted out with severe punishment. "Necessary relief and a Government job should be given to the child’s parents,” urged the members.

A 7-year-old girl, who went missing on Monday evening, was found dead in Kasinaickenpudur near Pannimadai on Tuesday. It is now reported that the girl was actually playing in front of her house after school hours, when she suddenly went missing. It is alleged that five men had abducted the girl and raped her in the backyard of her house.

However, the police have not issued any official statement that the girl child was raped before murder. The police had earlier registered only a murder case. Only after autopsy reports revealed that the girl was sexually assaulted before being murdered, the police registered a case under the POCSO ACT, along with murder charges on the suspects. A special team led by the DSP is in charge of the case.
